Wear A Hat Day has become a nationally important day to raise vital funds and create awareness for Brain Tumour Research. Join in and you’ll be in good company with celebrity ambassadors and supporters like Dame Shelia Hancock DBE and TV personalities Danny Clarke and Sarah Beeny.

You can don anything you fancy from an old straw sunhat or droopy beanie to something fun and très chic. It’s the taking part that counts.

But to help you optimise your look here are a few tips.

Choose a hat for your face shape:
• Oval faces can get away with almost anything. However if wearing a large brimmed hat, tilt it
backwards so it frames your face. Square or round faces: wear a large brimmed hat slanted

• If you wear glasses choose an upturned brim style that won’t get in the way. If your face is long,
balance out the length by wearing a side beret

• A more square face can take something to soften it, such as feathers, veiling or rounded shape
hats. Asymmetrical shapes and brims suit everyone and are very flattering along with rounded
cocktail hats

• Remember that if you tip the brim of your hat ,it should rest a thumb’s width above your
Eyebrow

• For small headpieces ensure that they are resting just above the eyebrow; there’s nothing worse
than seeing the piece balancing on the top of the head

• Hair should complement the hat. Hats nearly always look better with the hair worn up

• Pick your hat first then your outfit. Try and keep the dress simple: it’s all about the hat.
